The Zodiac “Play,” Part 2

In order to experience harmony and plenitude in our relationships with the others, we have to manifest, according to the context, the role that can polarize the human beings with which we interact, realizing that the Universe can exist just because of the perfect playing of these polar roles at a cosmic level.

LEO: THE FATHER

The archetype of the Father: the self-determined person, distinguished by a great authority, strong-willed, but protective, severe but generous, who helps us to do our best, having a great power to coordinate and a strong impact upon the others.

VIRGO: THE VIRGIN (THE NUN)

The archetype of the Virgin (Nun): embodies the aspiration towards purity, it is the erotic world unexplored, the potential energy that is not yet aroused or which is completely subordinated to a mental or spiritual aim.

LIBRA: THE LOVER

The archetype of the Lover: is manifested by a person whose intention is to transmit to the others, by means of very different ways, love, beauty, harmony, warmth and the joy of establishing a more intimate relationship; it represents the fulfillment of human love and soul communications.

SCORPIO: THE ALCHEMIST

The archetype of the Alchemist: represents the power of complete transformation of the low impulses and basic energies into spiritual forces by means of the alchemic power of transmutation and sublimation and the ability of regeneration.

SAGITTARIUS: THE GREAT PRIEST / PRIESTESS

The archetype of the Great Priest / Priestess: represents the human being devoted to a high moral or spiritual ideal, who can guide and give advice and support and who brings with him benediction.

CAPRICORN: THE HERMIT

The archetype of the Hermit: represents the idea of detachment of the physical existence, the control of the emotions, the renunciation to the human pleasure, the ascesis and the complete orientation towards spiritual realization by the control of the ego.

AQUARIUS: THE FRIEND

The archetype of the Friend: is the manifestation of the altruism embodied by the human being who has renounced to the self affirmation and is completely devoted to the humanity, realizing the fact that every man is a perfect image of the Universe; he dedicate himself to the fellow-men, being the cosmic friend of everyone, without expecting any reward or recognition.

PISCES: THE SAINT (THE MYSTIC)

The archetype of the Saint (Mystic): illustrates the synthesis between the power of the Divine love and compassion and a deep, intuitive understanding of the Divine laws; it is the union of all tendencies and their final dissolution into a sacred perspective that leads to transcendence.

Beyond classifications, the archetypes are intrinsically valuable, leading us, by experiencing them consciously, to the fulfillment of the Androgynal State.

Transfiguration, Part 2

PART 2
WE CAN OFFER THE TRUE LOVE ONLY WHEN WE DO NOT DEPEND ON THE OTHER

Transcending the physical love you can reach the state of detachment from the body, yet you may still be dependant on the other. If your lover, for instance becomes distant, then you are left alone again.

Therefore, this is the next step to be taken. When you feel you reached a spiritual communion with your lover, you need to be aware that you also have to go beyond his or her soul.

You need to “use” it, so to speak, as a gate of access to what lies beneath this wonderful soul.

In the beginning, you may get to perceive ones soul through a first transfiguration, then through a further transfiguration you get to go beyond this soul, and see what is above, an essential, archetypal manifestation, an aspect of the divine consciousness, the divine love, a certain worshipped deity, in fewer words, a higher sphere of consciousness.

Only if you reach this level you can say you have succeeded in becoming free from the dependence on the others soul, as well as from his or her body.

Furthermore, even if at a certain point your lover leaves, not only physical but also with the soul, you can still remain connected to what you had before, and this is the real path of freedom.

We feel the need to state again that we are not talking about indifference, or that their love is gone, it simply means that it has just begun.

True love cannot occur between two helpless people leaning against each other for help and support.

Because there cannot be love between a man and a woman who have not surpassed the physical or the emotional level, being dependant on each other, physically or emotionally.

If two powerful people, each cherishing their freedom stay together, then this means that what keeps them together is not the dependence, but something a lot deeper: LOVE.

Only when you are no longer dependant on the other you can offer him or her, your true love. Generally speaking, the beginners on the Tantric path easily go beyond the first level, the body, but somehow the ones who really manage to go beyond the second level are few.

In Rajneeshs vision, the first step from sexuality to love has been taken, but there is more work to be done.

Even embellished, the soul of another person is seen in a very personal manner, and one gets to be dependant on this beautiful soul.

Thus, when the woman becomes more and more attractive, you see in her still this individual, strictly human soul, nothing more, and then you grow attached to her.

Now, there is another step to be taken, quickly after reaching this stage. In addition, in this step, the transfiguration is the key.

THE SEXUAL ACT WITHOUT CONSECRATION IS A MISSED TRIP

Regardless of the form of Tantra that you practice, right after consecration, you should move on transfiguration.

What is in fact the consecration? It is a draft of the path you are about to go on. No arrow will ever reach the target if not shot on the right direction – the direction of the target.

You may not shot an arrow hoping that maybe the wind will blow in the right direction and it will take the arrow to penetrate its target.

Most often, even if shot on the direction of the target, the arrow may not reach the center. Likewise, a sexual act begun without consecration hoping that during the actual act you will manage to give it a spiritual orientation is a tricky thing to do, and it means only one thing: failure.

This is why this consecration in the beginning is so important: it prefigures the final state, the spiritual fusion, the ultimate aspect into which the two lovers transfigure themselves.

If the clear, precise direction is set in the beginning, then the chances of getting there grow considerably. If lovemaking goes into the profane direction, the ejaculatory orgasm, then this trip is missed.

Consequently, consecrating the lovemaking represents the sacred act of offering the consequences of lovemaking or in other words the fruits of lovemaking to the immortal spirit – Atman, present in each of us.

Thus, the lovemaking becomes like a sacrificial fire, in which the limited individualities of the two lovers are sacrificed.

Transfiguration, Part 3

PART 3
The essence of the Tantric path begins with transfiguration. In other words, you are truly on this path only then when your vision on someone else is changed for the better through transfiguration.

For instance, if a so-called yogi makes love to a woman, he respects Brahmacharya, he transmutes the sexual energy and sublimates it, yet he is not capable of seeing in his lover more than a regular woman, then he does not practice Tantra in the true, real sense of this teaching.

It is whatever you can think about: the observance of Yama and Niyama, Brahmacharya, sexual yoga, but not Tantra.

Only then when he is capable to see in his lover, the woman he makes love to, the cosmic ocean of primordial energy, and when this is not just his imagination, but an experienced reality, when he feels in her all the powers of the universe manifested through that body of a woman, this is the beginning of the Tantric path.

This does not mean that this is where it ends, as well. This beginning has also a sequel, and on the peaks of this Tantric system there are very high meditations on the essential aspects of the Divine.

Consequently, transfiguration is a very important aspect, and its absence leads to a very strange thing, which some people may have noticed.

Although they go sincerely on a yogic path, although they honestly try to practice Tantra, they have various obstacles that hinder them from reaching the truly divine state they should experience shortly if the practice is correct.

For instance, they have to deal with stupid, limiting states of possessiveness. And this occurs because they forget the finality of the Tantric path, a path that sets one free, not in chains.

Of course that in the context of a relationship freedom does not equal indifference to the others actions, or feelings, but it means not depending on the other.

You can have a very fine and fulfilling relationship to someone, you can offer them all your love and devotion, without being “in chains”, indifferent or dependent.

Paradoxically as this may sound to some people, this path of freedom has this effect of binding and “incarcerating” some persons, only because they are not aware of the fact that their practice is not correct.

After this general consecration, you need to try and identify yourselves with a divine, eternal aspect. In the beginning of this transfiguration there is a phase, Nyasa, the consecration of the enters of force.

The man touches in turns his lovers centers of force with his right index, thumb and middle finger, united together, using certain ritual formula, or even mantras, characteristic to each center of force.

For instance we all know that the aliments are charged with subtle elements and energies, and then you may even try and taste some aliments as it awakens inside a certain type of energy, a certain type of resonance.

However, regardless of the method, Nyasa implies that the man touches as described above the woman’s chakra-s and identifies them with the macrocosmic corresponding centers.

Thus, touching for instance Anahata chakra, and saying the mantra for Anahata chakra, or taking a bite or a sip from an aliment that activates this chakra, or using volatile oils, the man thinks intensely: “this is no longer the body of a woman, it is a spark from the cosmic manifestation. In this very room, I take part in a cosmic mystery, a part of the eternal feminine force is revealed to me now.”

His lover should also preserve this state of transfiguration all through the lovemaking.

Transfiguration, Part 4

PART 4
A SECOND OF LACK OF ATTENTION TRANSFORMS THE DIVINE EROTIC GAME IN A USUAL ONE

If the man loses this state of transfiguration, even for a moment, and if he sees again the regular woman in front of him, not a spark of the divine light, then the lovemaking has turned into a regular, common act.

This state of transfiguration needs to be permanent, continuous, and only then the lovemaking is no longer a meeting between two bodies but between two fundamental principles, the masculine and the feminine.

This depends on the ritual and the fantasy of the two people involved. Sometimes the Tantric technique and the pure spontaneity are intermingled and all you do after this state can only be spiritual, because the individualities have disappeared and only the Divine has remained.

A transfigured woman may preserve this state grace to an effort of the consciousness and she may also lose it if she does not have the required focus. Consequently, the transfiguration is as much the process of transformation as it is of preserving this transformation.

THROUGH SUCCESSIVE TRANSFIGURATIONS, WE MAY ACCESS ALL THE MODUS EXISTENTIA

Thus, the transfiguration has a relative tone, not an absolute one. Lets say that a woman reaches the state of incarnate goddess, through transfiguration and although she lives in a physical body she experiences her deity all the time.

Or, even more concretely: a woman has a predominant activation of Anahata chakra. She is superior to the other women whose regular predominant level is on Swaddhistana chakra – the sexual center.

But remember that Anahata chakra in itself is an universe, so this special woman becomes a regular woman as compared to the beings with predominance on Anahata chakra.

Thus, again, through a new transfiguration she may accede to a new condition, activating her Vishuddha chakra.

Thus, we get to realize the relative character of transfiguration, and the fact that through successive transfigurations a person may climb the possibilities ranged from the regular level to the ultimate state of freedom.

THE TRANSFUGURATION THROUGH THE VIEW OF THE RESONANCE CONCEPT

In the universe, in the manifested world, all can be reduced to energy vibrating on certain frequencies.

From this point of view, the consciousness of a person, until he or she reaches the complete spiritual freedom, is in a state of constraint, of attachment to an inferior way of being.

This identification of a certain person with an inferior hypostasis is actually produced through the phenomena of resonance with the energy characteristic to that particular type of vibration.

We mentioned the process of resonance for a better understanding of the assertion of denial of the transfiguration. From this point of view, the transfiguration implies two different aspects.

The negative aspect of transfiguration is the cut of an inferior resonance and the positive aspect is the creation of a new, superior resonance.

THE EXPERIENCE OF A SUPERIOR STATE DETERMINES THE SUPPRESSION OF THE INFERIOR STATE

A person who transfigures himself or herself from an inferior way of living, of the regular person, to the condition of a genius simply shifts, through the phenomena of resonance into the sphere of resonance of the geniuses.

Although it may appear that first there is the denial and then the assertion, this means the cut of the inferior resonance and then the creation of the superior one, most of the times the order is reversed: first happens the creation of a new, superior resonance and only then the cut from the old one.

Consequently, you need to realize and meditate upon the fact that calling the good, the evil is eliminated.

Thus, the mental of the common, regular person does not stand to experience the emptiness that remains after the inferior resonance is cut, unless this place is quickly filled with a superior resonance.

This is an important aspect as many people when trying to cut the inferior resonance, do not seek a superior, better replacement and then their consciousness quickly comes back to the previous state.

Many people say: “I will not give my heart anymore. I do not want to be hurt.” They cannot imagine a free persons happiness. They only seek to eliminate the suffering, without putting anything back. And the mind does not stand this and quickly calls back the suffering.

An important tip: when transmigrating do not think about the level you are about to pass, but think about the superior level you are about to see.

We need to aspire to this new, transfigured state and to allow ourselves to be attracted to it with all our forces, to allow ourselves be fascinated by it and to simply enter the new universe opening up in front of us.

Transfiguration, Part 1

The essence of the Tantric path begins with the transfiguration.

Of course that in the context of a relationship freedom does not equal indifference to the others actions, or feelings, but it means not depending on the other.

You can have a very fine and fulfilling relationship to someone, you can offer them all your love and devotion, without being “in chains”, indifferent or dependant.

Paradoxically as this may sound to some people, this path of freedom has this effect of binding and “incarcerating” some persons, only because they are not aware of the fact that their practice is not correct.

THE SUBTLE COMMUNICATION HELPS US BEAR MORE EASILY THE PHYSICAL SEPARATION
In other words, to use Rajneeshs own words – the steps are lovemaking, love, prayer. What does really happen during these steps?

The person seeks unity, seeks to escape his or her own limitations and if you will, on this path the transcendence is possible with the help of another person, with the help of your beloved.

In the beginning, the closeness and the attraction are a first desire of coming out from the boundaries of ones limitations. Why? Because one cannot truly get out of oneself, physically.

This escape in the sexual union is nonetheless short-lived. Therefore, only when one reaches his or her lovers soul, a spiritual communion, only then occurs a first escape through the soul that perceives another soul.

This is the moment of a first de-conditioning, because this is when you can become independent from your lovers body.

Why? Because at this time you are already in contact with your lovers soul and now you can stand physical separation.

Two people who love each other sexually will not be able to stand physical separation, because they did not manage to get out of their bodies and the physical separation leaves them simply alone.

However, if two lovers have surpassed this level and have reached the level of spiritual love, they can stay separated for long periods of time, because they will be still spiritually united.

Do Not Fear Sexual Continence

Men usually succeed in having a certain degree of control on their sexual excitement, once they have grown as lovers, and once their desire is to satisfy their beloved.

This capability is often translated in terms of distraction of the mind from the sexual excitement, instead of learning how to become more and more sensitive to this excitement.

A real control of ejaculation comes up only when a man has learned his own individual rhythm of excitement, and not when he ignores it.

Once you get to become aware of your ever-increasing pleasure, you will find it easier to walk on the path of sexual continence, or in other words of multiple orgasms.

In order to fully experience sexual pleasure, men have to relax and abandon themselves. But, if a man relaxes and abandons in a wrong moment, he may even ejaculate because of this.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT EJACULATION
The discharge of the semen from the body takes place in two phases. The first one, the contracting phase (called sometimes the emission phase) the prostate is contracting and pushes the semen through the urethra. In the expulsion phase, the semen discharged in the urethra goes further on through the penis.

When you will be capable of having multiple orgasms, you will experiment those pleasant pelvic contractions without ejaculating. Although there are men who ejaculate several times during one act (especially adolescents) it has to be clear from now on that multiple orgasms (without ejaculation) do not refer to this kind of multiple ejaculations.

If a man is very excited, there may appear some drops of transparent liquid. The prostate and other glands, such as Cowper glands produce this translucent fluid eliminated usually before the discharge of the semen.

It is in fact an alkaline liquid needed for the lubrication of the urethra and for preparing the way for the semen. The Taoists named this liquid water and distinguish it from the milk, which represents the seed.

This fluid is perfectly natural, its presence indicates the orgasm of the “contractile” phase, and it may contain a number of spermatozoids. This is usually called “pre-ejaculation”.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SEMEN WHEN I DO NOT EJACULATE?
The semen is reabsorbed by the organism, in a manner somewhat similar to the process occurring in the case of a man who had a vasectomy.

Nonetheless, the effects of Taoist and Tantric techniques on the human organism are quite different from the effects of a vasectomy.

A vasectomy implies that the deferent tube is cut right above the testicles and consequently, the sperm can no longer pass through the tube.

The semen is finally re-absorbed inside the body, but quite a number of men complain because of a state of congestion in the testicles and pelvis.

Therefore, either if you had a vasectomy or you simply practice sexual continence, it is so important that you practice techniques to sublimate the sexual energy from the sexual area.

These techniques help your body to transform the semen into other substances, process known as transmutation. Then the resulted energy is sublimated to the upper chakras, releasing the tension from the pelvis.

The involuntary contractions of the orgasms in the contractile phase, without ejaculation, massage the prostate, keeping it healthy and decongested.

CAN THE FACT THAT I DO NOT EJACULATE HARM ME IN ANY WAY?
The Taoist and Tantric adepts have practiced the techniques for transmutation of the semen and sublimation of the sexual energy into other refined forms of energy for thousands of years without any side effects. Moreover, they noticed that their health and longevity have been substantially improved.

THE ORGASMIC MASCULINE POTENTIAL
Instead of the usual, ejaculatory orgasm, the “Big-Bang” type, the methods of transforming and sublimating the sexual energy endow you with the possibility of rising this energy even from the contractile phase (before ejaculation), allowing you to experiment many multiple orgasms, perceived with your entire body, not just your genital area.

If you feel that ejaculation is imminent, block it by squeezing it with your fingers. This will prolong your orgasm and preserve your energy.

If you succeeded in avoiding the ejaculation, you may direct your energy along the spine, up to the crown of the head, in order to conclude the lovemaking with your whole body radiating energy.

It is a fact that the Tantric masters used the energy resulted from sexual intercourse without ejaculation for a spiritual purpose, i.e. they sublimated this energy and used it to reach the state of divine ecstasy, even revelation of the Supreme Self, Atman.

Also, it is known the fact that the same Tantric masters used to maintain hard erections for hours, during sexual intercourse without ejaculation, even at old age.

WHERE DID THE ERECTION GO?
I DID NOT EJACULATE, BUT I LOST MY ERECTION. WHAT HAPPENED?

If the sperm was not discharged nor reabsorbed, then only one thing may happen. Sometimes, when practicing sexual continence, you may have a non-ejaculatory orgasm and still you may suddenly lose the erection.

In this case you may have experienced a so-called “retrograde ejaculation” (in case you did not simply lost erection). If this is the case, the semen is discharged into the urinary vesicle and it will be discharged from the body once you urinate.

However, since you lost your erection and your semen (even if through urination), you have not succeeded in practicing correctly the sexual continence.

It is important for you to know that the effects of retrograde ejaculation are just as damaging as those of a “regular” ejaculation.

However, there is a method to see for yourselves if what happened was a retrograde ejaculation: after lovemaking, take a bowl and urinate in it. If the urine is not clear, then you eliminated the semen through it.

Let’s Discover Woman, Part 1

To know a woman is a trip to the unknown, a challenge of creation, a genuine spiritual path that starts from the finite and ends in the infinity.

This stairway to the essence of the woman is built from the stairs of the physical, psychical, mental and spiritual knowledge, and melts in the ecstasy of the complete merger with the eternal feminine.

Therefore, the Tantric and Taoist masters revealed the mysteries of lovemaking involving sexual continence, through which, starting from the physical union of the man with the woman one may get to their mystical,
divine union, reconstructing the primordial Unity.

However, this is not an easy path, as it may appear at a first look. This path involves plenty of qualities, beginning with physical ones and ending with spiritual qualities, which the two lovers engaged on this path
have to acquire in their being.

So far, in the articles from this section we insisted on obtaining the control of the energies through the techniques of sexual continence, as this represents the first step to be made on the Tantric path.

In parallel with the effort to control the sexual energy, the man needs to try and know the woman deeper and deeper.

Only thus he will be able to merge with her and only thus he will be able to reach the divine ecstasy.

Keep in mind that merging and being united with someone involves love, as love is the only bond of the creation.

Consequently, this knowledge should come from love, it should be achieved with love, and it should generate love.

THE RETURN TO THE VALUES OF THE EAST
The West has focused predominantly on the individual, as fundamental unity of the society, orienting the people towards the development of their
own qualities and personality.

This exacerbated tendency lead to the break between the man and the woman in the modern societies.

This does not mean that the awakening and development of ones own qualities is a wrong orientation; nonetheless, when this orientation does not leave room for the awakening of the superior consciousness, within the couple, which is the true fundament of the creation, it becomes destructive.

The man and the woman were not created to fight one against the other, but to please one another endlessly and to achieve through their union also the
union of the opposites.

On the other hand, the East represents an oasis of wisdom regarding the man-woman relationship. Lovemaking was always considered in the East as a source of health, harmony and ecstasy.

The newly weds would receive “bedroom books” from which they would learn how to please one another.

Unfortunately, in the West such a tradition is out of the question; there has never been a preoccupation in teaching a couple the secrets of lovemaking, and the only source of erotic knowledge are the pornographic movies and magazines.

It is obvious that they are not a genuine initiation in the mysteries of
lovemaking. Hollywood lovemaking is not an authentic lovemaking; it is simply quick sex.

Let’s Discover Woman, Part 2

PART 2
The passionate embrace between a man and a woman, captured in so many movies, in which the woman is instantly lubricated, and immediately satisfied after few minutes of “lovemaking” might make one laugh, if it werent for the fact that this way of looking at things actually influences lots of people, who imitate this completely non-realistic “method” of making love.

The pornographic movies are focused on the unnatural “implantation” of the ma into the womans body, suggesting masturbation rather than the harmony of the
subtle and profound sensations between the man and the woman, characteristic to the authentic lovemaking.

The fact that the western men ejaculate so soon in the pornographic movies should not come as a surprise.

A study of Mr. Kinsey, sexologist, revealed the fact that 80% of the subjects ejaculated within 2 minutes from the actual penetration.

Both men and women in the West are lost in this fast intercourse. Hartman
and Fithian, working in this same area as specialists, indicated the fact that this fast sexual act does not have a duration sufficient for the natural chemical substances that usually accompany touch and excitation to be released in the blood, cutting thus off the feeling of well-being that accompanies lovemaking.

This is why the control of the sexual energy must be a priority for each of us. Once a man manages to practice sexual continence, he will be able to satisfy his lover regardless how much “help” she needs to reach the orgasm.

Nonetheless, once you learned to satisfy your lover, the first thing you need to do is to give up your selfishness.

It is not you who offer her an orgasm. Do not try to be the best lover she
ever had.

Men usually get so obsessed with sexual achievements and performances, that they forget the real purpose of lovemaking, the deep union with your loved one.

Keep in mind that the best lovers of all times were completely relaxed and aware of what is going on, both within themselves and within their lovers.

A highly important aspect that needs to be mentioned is that it is easier to learn the sexual continence in a stable couple, with a woman with whom you have an emotional bond and a great physical match.

The sexual continence is only one of the many treasures that you will discover on the Tantric path.

Shakti – A Fundamental Tantric Concept

In the Tantric cosmogony, the term Shakti defines an unbelievable complex aspect of the universe, which bears numerous nuances.

Some of these are: cosmic creative force, mother who gave birth to everything, cosmic energy, seductive woman, devoted sister, terrible power who destroys all limitations, Goddess who grants divine gifts, feminine force residing especially in beautiful, vital and spiritual women, fundamental energy Kundalini Shakti, etc.

The Tantrics assert that in order to define Shakti one has to know Her.

The problem arises once one gets to truly know what Shakti is because then any attempt of classifying it, any concept disappear as these cannot comprise the sublime of Shakti, regardless of its potential degree of philosophical value.

According to the tantric view of Shakti, She has innumerable ways of manifesting herself.

She is the famous energy Kundalini or the snake coiled at the base of the spine, immense energy that yogis awaken and contemplate with fascination and fear equally, totally charmed by it. Nevertheless, the snake is merely a symbol of the spiritual path, not the path itself.

The divine energy, Shakti, as tantric philosophy has it, does not allow to be confined in any form, formula or ritual. Subtle as the earth, imperceptible as the water, bright as the fire, free as the air, infinite as the space she traverses all elements belonging to this world, without ascertaining the identity of any.

The renowned master Vimalananda said once that speaking of enlightenment without knowing Shakti is simply a joke.

There is a Hindu myth about how Shakti first appeared. the importance of this myth does not necessarily lie in its imagery, but in its symbolism.

The legend says that a monstruous demon, Mahisa, was threatening the foundation of the universe itself, and the existence of all gods. Brahma and the whole pantheon called Shiva and Vishnu for help. enraged, the gods emitted their energies as a fire coming out from their mouth.

These different divine flames unified into a one as a burning cloud, and finally took the shape of a goddess with eighteen arms. this goddess, Shakti was the one who succeeded in defying the demon and at the same time saving the universe.

The important thing to note here is that the gods seem to have somehow restored their energies to the Primordial Force, the Source from which everything emerged in the very beginning.

Shakti represents also the force of transformation and regeneration, an extraordinary ascendant force that may lead to ecstasy, in tantric opinion.

Moreover, according to the same sources, Shakti represents the beatific force of orgasm, the thrill of sexual pleasures amplified through the profound fusion between the two lovers. She is the divine game of love itself. She is also called “Lalita” or “Lila”, both meaning “the one who plays.”

Tantra says: “everything perceivable through the eyes is definable in terms of frames of mind, but not Her who is the Mother”, and “she is ineffable and beyond perception/conception; having a form, she is nonetheless formless.”

The tantrics have distinguished two aspects in which she becomes manifested: static and dynamic. Shakti is Maya, (illusion) who appears as the phenomenal world and hides the Absolute Consciousness from the ignorant. As subtle and undifferentiated energy of the universe, she is Parashakti. These forms are not separated, but co-exist in a fundamental manner.

In her supreme form, Shakti is identified with Mahadevi or Mahamaya, the Great Goddess, the power who creates and destroys, often represented as the mysterious uterus from which everything emerged and in which everything dissolves.

In the tantric cosmology, the whole universe (the macrocosm) is considered to have emerged and to be permanently sustained by two forces, opposed in term of polarity: Shiva (masculine) and Shakti (feminine).

The sacred books, the Tantras, speak of the goddess Dakini, totally and eternally free, who is the Supreme Absolute itself:

“when there exists nothing, Sun, Moon, planets, nothing else but the void, then only my Divine Formless Mother exists.”

For the well-known master SRI AUROBINDO the Cosmic Mother “mediates always between the human personality and the Divine Nature”, facilitating the access to the later.

She is the colossal force, who supports the biologic, psychic, affective and mental processes of the human being. She does not manifest itself only through the laws of nature, but also through the processes of life, through attitudes, frames of mind, etc.

Everything that is movement, consequently life (microcosmic or macrocosmic) is in reality the action of Shakti, the Cosmic Mother, who embraces everything and is in the same time beyond…

The Feminine Mystery

womaWe recognize the religious rediscovery of Woman’s mystery in Tantra. As we’ll see later on each beautiful woman who is full of vital energy is the embodiment of SHAKTI – the feminine principle.

The spiritual emotion profoundly transfiguring towards the fascinating mystery of birth and fecundity and also the recognition of everything that is far, enigmatic, transcendent, invulnerable in Woman, all these come to symbolize the sacred and the divine, the ineffable essence of the ultimate reality.

The woman who is fascinating in her beauty and is full of vital energy embodies the mystery of Creation and the mystery of the Being at the same time, of everything that IS and that becomes death and birth in an incomprehensible manner.

Thus it is prolonged, metaphysically and even mythically, the basis of the SAMKHYA philosophy:

The Spirit, “The Supreme Male”, Purusha, is “the great impotent”, immobile and contemplative, as the absolute witness. He acts through PRAKRITI, “The Eternal Feminine”, that is the dynamic principle, the one who creates and feeds. When a great danger threatens the Cosmos, Gods appeal to the power of SHAKTI to make it go away.

A famous myth tells us the story of how the Great Goddess was born at the beginning of times.
“An evil demon, MAHISHA, was threatening the Universe and even the existence of the Gods. BRAHMA and the entire Pantheon of gods asked for VISHNU and SHIVA‘s help.

Full of anger, all gods focused their energies in a fire that came out of their mouths. These fires mixed together and made a gigantic brilliant, white, burning cloud that finally took the shape of a fascinating GODDESS with 18 arms.

This Goddess was SHAKTI, who managed to destroy MAHISHA the monster and thus saved the world. Thus the Gods endowed SHAKTI with their powers. She was the Unique Feminine Force, the spring that everything came from at the beginning.” The result was a renewing of a primordial state of the universal power.

In Tantra the woman is sacred.

In Tantra SHAKTI, “the cosmic feminine force”, is raised to the position of Divine Mother who sustains the Universe and all the beings, the multiple manifestation of gods (the angelic entities).images (14)

It is called UMA, The Virgin, in its primordial hypostasis that precedes the Universal creation. In this case SHAKTI is the highest peak of all worlds, pure and untouchable. Once it manifests the universe, SHAKTI becomes the maintainer of space and time and all subtle and physical worlds.

In its final hypostasis she is the destroyer, KALI, the one who absorbs into the divine everything that is incomplete and limited in order to prepare a new Creation. KALI wants to make the entire manifestation to have an evolutionary sense.

Women can be happy that they got an essential role in religion and spiritual philosophy for the first time. Only in Tantra the female principle has got a real role, just as important as the male one.

It is not about the common, false feminist slogans for equality; it is a way to raise the Eternal Feminine through her own mysterious qualities without an artificial equality with the male principle.

Tantra goes further and presents the Divine Being as a glorious ANDROGEN – the perfect and harmonious combination of feminine and masculine. In other works the Divine is presented as the SHIVA – SHAKTI couple in ecstatic sexual union with continence.

In Tantra the woman and the man are complementary and equal in chances of discovering the ultimate reality.

Of all spiritual ways Tantra is the first who brings the woman and the Eternal Feminine out in the open and enhances their value, to the highest levels. Thus the woman is considered to be solar on sexual, affective and mental levels while the man dominates the vital, will, purity and spiritual levels.

By unifying the man and the woman, by love and transfiguration, they become the divine couple SHIVA – SHAKTI. Thus they can complete one another at all levels of being, creating a Glorious Androgen.
